As early as 1873 several pioneer ministers were visiting the Lowry – Farwell community. Their purpose was to encourage believers and bring the message of God’s saving grace to the many unsaved.
Ben Wade Mission Covenant Church was organized in 1892 and officers were elected. By the end of that year a small “mission house” had been built four miles southwest of Lowry in Ben Wade Township. In 1903 a substantial addition to the church was made.
The summer of 1960 found the church building being moved to the town of Lowry. By that time a parsonage had been purchased also. An extensive remodeling and expansion of the church building took place in 1982.
A new parsonage, across the street from the church, was built in 2001. In 2011 the church name was changed from Ben Wade Covenant Church to Lowry Community Covenant Church.
Today Lowry Community Covenant Church, which belongs to the Evangelical Covenant Church denomination, has weekly Sunday worship services, Sunday School for all ages, and Wednesday Bible studies along with Covenant Women and youth group activities.
To God be the glory for fruit that has been born in terms of spiritual life and growth. “Be confident of this, that He who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6.
